Intolerance of free speech is fascist, surely. Anyway, companies like that only care about profits and avoiding manufactured controversy, which is strange, because the people offended by a different opinion or a comparison they didn’t like seem like the sort to immediately continue watching a TV show after they’re done with posturing, virtue signalling, and wallowing in pleasurable outrage. If they even watched it in the first place.

Making it socially acceptable to vilify and dehumanise people for a difference in political opinion — just label them racist, transphobic, anti-Semitic, and Trump supporter first as per the article justifying firing Carano — surely will lead to nothing but a bloodthirsty, self-righteous mob mentality, one which feels superior to their fellow man as per their in-group status. How else do you think it starts — regardless of where we are currently in the process (which is: loss of livelihood, “re-education”, police turning up at your workplace unlawfully to caution you about a “non-crime hate incident” (a Tweet mocking someone’s ideology), Draconian fines, and jail terms for questioning unscientific dogma or, in fact, complaining about an Orwellian society)?

Remember: the Left always eats its own. Someday you might be in Carano’s shoes over some wrongthink or even for a statement of fact which in the future hurts someone’s feelings — what some activists today are manipulatively terming “violence”.

Glutting myself on all that life has to offer and writing about it. Art, language, science, humour, and whatever else takes my fancy…
