Personally, I’ve never understood the catch phrase “sex work is work” to shut down criticism of an exploitative industry. It’s like saying “child labour is labour”, it’s factually correct but what’s the take away meant to be? Seems like a pretense that people are criticising women’s choices and not the social and economic forces that heavily encourage this “empowerment”. (Is empowering code for doing what men want? And pretending that making at most a couple of grand* pleasing them makes you powerful?)

*to be making the big” bucks I assume you’d have to be okay doing the sort of things the majority of people wouldn’t…
